June 2022 Earnest Research Spend Index
Earnest Research Spend Index grew at the same rate in June as it did the prior month, with a slight improvement in online offsetting a slight deceleration in in-store. Air Travel decelerated sequentially more than any other major subcategory, with Lodging & Accommodations and Online Travel Agencies also decelerating. Gas Stations spending continued to grow faster than any other major subcategory, though the acceleration was more muted than in prior months. Home Fitness remained down YoY but improved notably compared to May. Gyms also experienced a large improvement, becoming the second fastest growing subcategory in the month. Household Goods and Home Furnishings fell the most among the major subcategories. Hunting & Fishing posted the third strongest MoM acceleration as recent news likely spurred firearm sales.
